Our current trade policy is for local customers. Should the policy change, ample notice will be given.

New books are 25% off.

Upon request we can order almost any book, provided it's not out of print.

We TRADE books, we DON'T BUY them. We also accept donations. In either case, we reserve the right to decline books traded in and/or donated.

The price of most of our used books in stock are 1/2 off the cover price. There may be some exceptions.

1. For the books we accept, we offer a credit of one-fourth (1/4) of the publishers price.

2. You may use this credit toward the purchase of most other used paperbacks, which are priced at one-half (1/2) the publisher’s price. Credit CANNOT be used on the purchase of new books.

3. You do NOT have to use all your credit in one transaction. After two (2) years with no transactions the computer will automatically delete your account.

4. For each outgoing transaction, (if you have credit on file) you are required to pay the first five dollars ($5.00) with your credit deducted thereafter. This is not a fee or surcharge but part of your purchase price.

In the event you use all of your credit before the transaction is complete, the cost of each book will be added to the total in addition to the first five dollars ($5.00) charged.

5. No person, family, or group may have more than $300 in credit no matter how many family members and/or friends have access to your account.

6. We accept a maximum of two (2) bags of books, per account, per day. This policy has been in effect for several years and will be strictly enforced. (i.e. Walmart, Price Chopper, Target bags)

7. We do NOT accept books with any marks, writing, initials, or price stickers. This policy has been in effect for several years and will be strictly enforced. Please remove the price stickers before you bring in your books.

8. We reserve the right to place limits on the books taken/purchased if the type, category, or quality of the books differ from those you offer in trade. This is at the descretion of the staff member on duty.

9. The staff member on duty, at their discretion, reserves the right to refuse any book at any time that is being turned in for credit, even if the book was purchased at Dog Eared books or has the store stamp in it.

• Books must be returned for credit with-in six (6) months or it will be at the booksellers discretion to accept/not accept the books.
• Books must be in good-to-excellent condition to be turned in for credit.
• Books with rips, tears or broken spines will NOT be accepted even if it has the store stamp. We CANNOT shelve these books and expect other customers to purchase them in poor condition.
• Books must be CLEAN -- BOOKS THAT ARE DUSTY, DIRTY, MOLDY, HAIRY, and/or INSECT-INFESTED WILL BE REFUSED.

If we don’t accept all of your books, that means we are either overstocked on those titles or the books are in the above condition. We will inform you as to the reason.

Should it be a matter of having a surplus in some of trade-ins, bring them in on your next visit (in good condition). We might be able to accept them at that time.

There are a few exceptions, to what can be purchased with your credit on file. These exceptions are, Cash only titles which means your credit on file CANNOT be used. These books have a hand-written sticker on them indicating they are "cash only."

You may pay for your total purchase in any of these methods: check, credit/debit card, or cash.

Paranormal Romance, Sci-Fi, and Audio books are in their own class. Yes, credit can be earned in this class, but you must have Paranormal/Sci-Fi/Audio credit in to purchase books in these categories. Otherwise they are "cash only," your credit CANNOT be used. There may some exceptions to this at the discretion of the manager or staff on duty.

Our selection of "cash only" books (where your store credit CANNOT be used ) is as follows but not limited to:

• Recently Released Titles - new/fairly new titles that have been traded in and are in good/like-new condition
• Bestselling Authors/Hard to Find Books - Betty Neels, J.D. Robb, Louis L'Amour, Janet Evanovich, etc.
• Classics - romance, sci-fi, literature, and collectible titles.
• Audio Books - selection is small but varied.
• The Bargain Barn - well read books which have 1 or 2 hole punches in the top right corner.
• (1) one hole punch - 2 for $1.00 or 5 for $2.00
• (2) two hole punches - 1 for .75, 3 for $2.00, or 8 for $5.00
• Bargain Barn Bags - A sealed bag of books (approx 30 books/titles per bag), one genre per bag, $8.00 ea.
• From time to time management will offer specials on these already reduced prices.
• Hardcovers - we carry a limited number of hardcovers. We don't generally accept hardcovers for credit but we may...credit CANNOT be used on hardovers...however, there may be exceptions at the descretion of the manager or staff on duty.
• Other Select Titles - at the discretion of the manager
