This is our current trading policy for local customers. Ample notice will be given if there are to be any changes to the policy.

We offer both new and used paperback books for a wide variety of tastes and ages.

In store purchase of new books are discounted at 25% off.

Used paperback books are sold at one-half (1/2) the publisher's suggested retail price. There may be some exceptions.

When you trade your books, with each outgoing transaction, you will pay the first five dollars ($5.00) in cash, check, credit/debit card (plus tax), with the credit on file deducted thereafter. In the event you use all of your credit before the transaction is complete, the cost of each book will be added to the total in addition to the first five dollars ($5.00) charged.

To help make it clear, here are a few examples of how the policy at $5.00 works.

We offer a paperback exchange program for credit.
We do not buy books.

How it works:

1. For the books we accept, we offer a credit of one-fourth (1/4) of the publishers price.

2. You may use this credit toward the purchase of most other used paperbacks, which are priced at one-half (1/2) the publisher’s price.

3. You do NOT have to use all your credit in one transaction. Credit is kept on file. If no transaction is made on your account in two (2) years, the computer will automatically delete your account.

4. For each outgoing transaction, (if you have credit on file) the first five dollars ($5.00) in used books must be paid in cash (plus tax), with the credit on file deducted thereafter. In the event you use all of your credit before the transaction is complete, the cost of each book will be added to the total in addition to the first five dollars ($5.00) charged.

5. No person, family, or group may have more than $300 in credit no matter how many account names are used.

6. We reserve the right to place limits on the books taken if the type, category, or quality of the books differ from those you offer in trade. We accept a maximum of two (2) bags of books, per account, per day.

7. We do not accept books with any marks, writing, initials, or price stickers. Please remove the price stickers before you bring in your books.

8. We reserve the right to place limits on the books taken/purchased if the type, category, or quality of the books differ from those you offer in trade.

9. The bookseller on duty, at their discretion, reserves the right to refuse any book at any time that has been turned in for credit, even if the book has our stamp in it.

• Books must be returned for credit with-in six (6) months or it will be at the booksellers discretion whether or not to accept the books.
• Books must be in good-to-excellent condition to be turned in for credit.
• Books with rips, tears or broken spines will not be accepted even if it has the store stamp.
• Books must be CLEAN--dusty, moldy, dirty, hairy, or inscet-infested books WILL BE REFUSED.

If we don’t accept all of your books, that means we are either overstocked on those titles or the books aren’t in good condition. We will inform you as to the reason. But, just because we don’t accept books we're overstocked on, doesn’t mean we might not accept them on your next visit.

Other Policy Information To Be Aware Of:

The following are Cash Only, which means, you may pay for your total purchase by check, credit/debit card, or cash, but your credit may not be used with those particular purchases:

• Recently Released Titles - new/fairly new titles that have been traded in - credit can't be used for purchase but credit will be applied when turning these titles in for trade/credit
• Collectable/Hard to Find Books - Betty Neels, Laurell K. Hamilton, Louis L'Amour, Janet Evanovich, Stanley Gardner, etc. - credit can't be used for purchase but credit will be applied when turning these titles in for trade/credit
• Classics - romance, sci-fi, literature - credit can't be used for purchase but credit will be applied when turning these titles in for trade/credit
• Audio Books - the selection is small but varied see note below
• The Bargain Barn - a large variety of books that have one or two hole punches in the top right corner of the cover and have been very well read - credit can't be used for purchase nor will these books be accepted back for trade/credit
• (1) one hole punch ~ 2 for $1.00 or 5 for $2.00
• (2) two hole punches ~ 1 for .75 or 8 for $5.00
• from time to time management will offer specials on these already reduced prices
• Hardcovers - price as marked - see note below
• Other Select Titles - at the discretion of the manager

Cash only titles will have a hand-written sticker on them indicating they are "cash only;" meaning your credit may not be used with these purchases.

Regarding Audio books and Sci-Fi books, if you bring either in for credit to your account, you may use your Audio and/or Sci-Fi credit, which is automatically tallied and separated from the other credit, on your purchase of other Audio or Sci-Fi book titles. Otherwise they are "cash only." There may some exceptions to this at the discretion of the management.

Hardcovers are not accepted for trade/credit. Hardcovers currently in stock have been donated to the store.
